ABOUT

Stripy Art is home to original paintings, limited edition prints and graphic design posters by
SUZANNE WHITMARSH
Welcome to Stripy Art!

Its not all about stripes but they do play a big part in my work.

I enjoy painting landscapes that are instantly recognisable but modern and striking in design.
The stripes are painted freehand in acrylics on canvas.
Although I have been experimenting with some good quality eco paints.

I am self taught due to a genuine love of experimenting with paints and techniques.
Painting stripes can be intense work and sometimes feel the need to paint in a freestyle.
I love anything retro and have also painted portraits in a pop art style in acrylic or gouache.

I love meeting you all when I'm selling my work at shows, I enjoy hearing your comments about my work.
It is often remarked that my painting style is reminiscent of the old railway posters so I have been digitally designing a range of travel style posters.
You can now purchase them here at Stripy Art.

I was born in Watford in 1968. Moved to the Isle of Wight in 1979. Started painting in 2000, selling vibrant art to visitors and locals on the Isle of Wight.
Moved to Dorset in 2012. Connections to the Island remained strong and I returned in June 2018.

I have exhibited at Quay Arts, Seaview Gallery, New Remberant Gallery and since moving from the Isle of Wight, have exhibited at Swan Gallery, Frome.
First View Gallery, Stour Head. Cove Gallery, Weymouth. Guggleton Gallery, Stalbridge. Dorset Arts Week. The Crypt, St Ives, Cornwall, Park Gallery, Cheltenham.

I am a member of the National Acrylic Painters Association.
