Thankyou for your interest in Stripy Art.

In 2000, I started painting stripy land and seascapes in a contemporary style that caught the eye of visitors and locals on the Isle of Wight. and this set me on my way to becoming a proffesional artist.
Around 2014 I began designing a range of travel prints of towns and villages around Isle of Wight and the U.K.
The Stripy Art business has grown steadily since then, and products also include my very popular Isle of Wight card game.

I love to attend various shows throughout the year as it is a great way to connect with customers old and new.
As well as prints, you can also buy a few selected products, coasters and cards. see my NEWS page for dates and places.
My work is also stocked in various shops and galleries, here on the island and the mainland.

I find inspiration wherever I go!
I am constantly taking photographs or sketching, excited by a beach I may have seen a hundred times or the lay of the land in a different light or season.
I am currently working on a new series of photo designs.

Although my main body of work is very neat, I also enjoy painting in a loose expressive way.
In order to fulfill and share my love of being creative, I now offer workshops, so you too can experience the joy of painting without worrying about perfection.

My original stripe paintings are available to buy online and in various galleries here on the island and on the mainland.
These take many hours to paint. I use acrylics and a steady hand. No masking tape is involved in the process, however I do use a ruler to draw out the design.
I look for a landscape with a good composition, that suits my style. Colour balance is very important and I tweak the colours as I go.
Although my style is very neat, a lot of feeling goes in to my paintings.
I will feel right out of sorts if a line or shape is not flowing in the right direction. It could be just a centimetre off and will need adjusting.
The result is a striking artwork, minimal in design but instantly recognisable

I have lived by the coast most of my life.
Born in Watford in 1968. Moved to the Isle of Wight with my family in 1979.
In 2012, I moved to Dorset for a change of scene. This was a great experience, as I had the chance to explore and paint different landscapes.
It also enabled me to connect and sell my work through mainland galleries.
Connections to the Island remained strong, so I returned in June 2018.
It is lovely to be back home and I am now represented by galleries here on the I.O.W, Dorset and Wiltshire.
I have three children and four grandchildren, all living on the island. And so here I will remain.

I have had solo and joint exhibitions here and in Dorset. My work has also been shown in America via the London based gallery, Trowbridge Gallery.
I am a member of the National Acrylic Painters Association and have exhibited with them at the Crypt, St Ives, Cornwall and Kennaway House in Devon.
